Is Africa's relationship with its ex-colonizers illegal...?

Africa's relationship with its ex-colonizers is illegal and the main reason behind the many conflicts plaguing some nations in the continent; do you agree with this statement?

Recalling the 6th edition of Africities in Dakar December 2012, Senegal, Thabo Mbeki was applauded when according to his comments, Charity begins at home, and Africans need to take the first bold steps to deal with problems affecting them instead of depending on the west.
“The Ivorian and Libyan crises confirmed a dangerous tendency with western countries who believe that they can intervene in every conflict on the continent,” says Mbeki.
He confirmed such is an;
“illegal relationship between Africa and its former colonial masters!”, and Africa had become too dependent on the West".
But what are the solutions that would allow Africans to better manage the string of conflicts plaguing the continent?

In order to resolve these conflicts that are plaguing the continent, Thabo Mbeki, made an a important suggestion that this can be achieved by promoting and encouraging unity between African states and added the African Union (AU) needs to provide the needed support.
“We must stand united to protect our interests" he says.
Mbeki nonetheless also argued that the competence of the AU must be strengthened by saying the followings;
"Our country must pass on part of their sovereignty to the African Union to ensure peace and security".

Mbeki remarks came as a result of Africities inability to reach a compromising decision on how to better handle the conflict in Libya.
