Garba and Abou Abdou listen as community outreach volunteer Karima
Mani, 25, uses a flipbook to give them information about child nutrition
during a home visit in the village of Moule Sofoua, Niger, March 22,
2012. Promoting good practices to improve child nutrition, health, and
hygiene have the greatest impact on reducing mortality and morbidity
among children under age 5, who are the most vulnerable in times of
crisis. These preventive interventions are being promoted to reduce the
prevalence of malnutrition and build resiliency so that families are
better positioned to withstand the burden of food and nutrition crisis
now and in the future. Credit: UNICEF Niger/2012/Asselin
