TOPIC OF THE WEEK: Altruism and its benfits

Picture from: zazzle.com
Cultivating love for others within oneself is one of the concept of true ethics. Indeed, altruism is one of the core pillars of many's spiritual practises.

Coming to people's help with generosity and benevolence, this is a simple act that often occurs through  lending an attentive ear, paying a sincere compliment, making a friendly gesture or any other sign of support. So how is being altruistic beneficial to you ?

It is often true we all can help others in all sorts of tangible ways such as with our belongings, through our actions and words but, the intangibility of our thought and intention alone can work great magic. For example cultivating the strong will to do good unto others or having the firm intention of helping them already bears a positive effect on not only ourselves but others as well; even if the opportunity to bring the intention to light does not arise. Therefore it is the process of perfection that matters and includes us into the practise of altruism.

Whether helping people materially, psychologically, or spiritually, the fulfilment is as useful to ourselves just as to others, perhaps even more. This allows us to foster positive thinking and implanting peace within ourselves. Not to forget this also provides us with the capital needed for the after life spiritual investment hence, propelling the soul to higher levels. In other words,  altruism plays a determining role in the quality of life the soul will enjoy in the world beyond.

This brings forth the next question. Is altruism innate? in other word is it of genetics?
