Monalisa Chinda's is setting Lagos on theatrical stuns

In 2012, the atress founded the Arise Monalisa Foundation (AMF) which is an Africa-based not-for-profit institution dedicated to promoting excellence in the creative industry across Africa. It is committed to identifying, and developing creative talents in Africa by creating worldclass training opportunities for young people in the creative industry. According to the actress Monalisa Chinda, the Foundation identifies and addresses challenges within the creative industry in Africa.

It came as no suprise when the beauty and talented Monalisa decided to exercise her creativity outside the usual, by taking it to theatre stage this December.

This coming Monday 24th, Christmas eve, Lagos will witness one the most sophisticated dance production of the decade. Nollywood top actress, Monalisa Chinda is said to daze  Nigeria's theatre with her world class stage production titled, Project Help: A Dance for Life.

The play will be performed at the prestigious Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, this will be a classical contemporary dance powered by the incredible Bailamos Dance Company, an ensemble that is said to have treated Nigerian aristocrats, elites and technocrats to the best thrilling performances.

This will feature an array of Nigeria's superstars like; Desmond Elliot, Kate Henshaw, Segun Arinze, Bimbo Akintola, Bovi, Saeon, the prima ballerina, Monalisa Chinda and many more. It is being directed by choreography wizard, BunmiOlunloyo.

Speaking recently to BENJAMIN NJOKU, (21st DECEMBER 2012) about the inspiration behind this highly anticipated event, Monalisa enthusiastically stated, "I've been nurturing the dance production idea for quite a while but my several engagements wouldn't avail me enough time, so I kept developing it.

I've always wanted a production, away from the norms, where people can experience classical recitals at its very best." "While this remains a great way to celebrate Christmas with loved ones, I also see it as a powerful means of awakening the dwindling culture of theatre in Africa at large. We've been working on this for a while and it promises to be a memorable atmosphere of unlimited ecstasy, joy and bliss," she affirms.
