Francophone filmmakers take the lead at the AMAA 2013 nominations

It has been a tradition to have a dominant country since 2005 when the first edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) was held, but it is predicted that this year these countries will forfeits its lead to another film making country. This may well be the turn of French-speaking film making countries to dominate as they lead the pack of films submitted from across Africa and the Diaspora. Surprisingly this for the first time this year the number of films submitted was totalling 671 films, approximately 50% up against the previous editions. Definitely showing the African film industry is growing and being watched across the globe. 

Yvonne Okoro’s gets six nominations for ‘The Contract’ at the 2013 AMAA Awards

First time behind the camera as a producer, Yvonne Okoro’s first, self-produced movie “The Contract”, directed by Shirley Frimpong-Manso, was shortlisted in six nominations for the African Movie Academy Awards(AMAA). Like this was not enough for the night, the talented actress crowned the evening by being nominated as Best Actress in a leading role. The nominations party was held in Malawi on Friday night.

Charlyboy mourns the gruesome death of cousin

On March 12. Charlyboy announced not only the abduction of his cousin via twitter, but he also confirmed he was eventually killed by his abductors. Emeka Aseme, was a business tycoon and a hotelier. His body was found in a bush path with eyes, sexual organs and others all exposed externally. Few days ago, Charlyboy posted a picture of the lifeless body of his cousin Emeka and even offered his apologies for the disturbing image. This picture clearly shows the brutality in which Emeka was subjected to. Five hired suspects assassins were arrested following this incident. Lady Gaga's 24-carat gold wheelchair: What a waste of mineral resources...!

In as much as I understand the whole extravaganza ideology of celebrities especially Gaga, I do not appreciate such reckless spending; when the value of that wheel chair can feed hundreds of children and adults starving in Africa. So what happens to the chair after she is recovered? it goes to the museum? or who will it auctioned to. Where did that gold come from to be wasted in such a manner....!!?

Lady Gaga decided to recuperate after her surgery on a 24-carat gold wheelchair designed by Ken Borochov whom according to the mirror.co.uk,  said this about his celebrity commission:

Nollywood actress Stella Damasus just droped official video for her song "Love Me Quick" which briefly featured a Cameroonain media personality Alenne Menget. This was also used as soundtrack for her movie "Unspoken". The video was directed by Daniel Ademinokan, and its a prodution of index TWO Studios. Watch video here after the cut......

2Face Idibia & wife recieves Prado SUV gift from Gov of Akwa Ibom

This picture was released in the later hours of today by the Akwa Ibom state government, showing Annie Macauley; the wife of the international singer 2face Idibia,  accepting what seem to be keys and documentations of a Toyota Prado SUV: a  gift from the reigning governor of Akwa Ibom state, Godswill Akpabio.

Dr Chris Fomunyoh demands the Cameroonian Head of State: Paul Biya to 'Appoint all 100 Senators Now and Save State Coffers'

Most of you reader may have little familiarity with Cameroon's politics, President Paul Biya ( on the right) recently announced on February 27th that there will be Senatorial Elections this coming April 14th, 2013.

Dr Christopher Fomunyoh: The Senior Associate for Africa at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) in Washington DC has asked the Head of State of Cameroon to appoint all 100 Senates immediately to ensure the start of a better democratic system in the country.

On his facebook page, Dr Chris wrote; If the regime already has its list of 100 Senators, it should name them now and save us all the unnecessary expenditure from state coffers and further embarrassment before other Africans and the rest of the world........
