Up to 7 killed in a plane crash in Congo's east city of Goma

According to MELANIE GOUBY of AP, The Ukrainian pilot of the plane for CAA managed to avoid buildings in the densely populated area, and crashed the plane on the fences in the backyard of a housing plot.  The plane had taken off from the city of Kananga in the country's southwest, stopped in Lodja and was on its way to Goma before the crash, Goma's mayor said.

All Islamic schools in Senegal are to close down

Young students, about aged seven to 12, have been killed in a fire in the Medina neighborhood of Senegal's capital, Dakar, prompting the Senegalese President to visit the scene. After his visit, he announced the government will close all Islamic schools that do not meet basic safety standards. Officials said nine children in a Quranic school died in a fire Sunday.

French nun killed in Madagascar


As per police report in Madagascar, two protesters have been killed in a riot at a prison holding the alleged killers of a French nun. The unrest happened when an angry crowd converged on the prison in the northern town of Mandritsara demanding justice for the death Sister Marie Emmanuelle Helesbeux.
