South Africa’ News: Campaign activists have expressed their concerns: they want the poorest countries to have access to life-saving drugs at costs they can afford




In a brief, UNDP and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) urged members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to consider the special needs and requirement of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and extend their transition period to comply with the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) next week.

Valerie Amos; the UN Secretary-General expresses concerns on the humanirian pace being slower


At today's Security Council meeting on Syria, UN Humanitarian Chief Valerie Amos expressed concerns over the increasingly brutal nature of the conflict and the impact the crisis is having on civilians, especially children and women. She warned that the pace of the humanitarian response is slower than the pace at which the crisis is evolving. Watch video below....

Uganda parliament to spend Shs1b on MPs’ iPads

I personally don't think any African government official deserves to have an ipad let alone having any nation spend kobo on such when they are important deficit to ameliorate. What has happened to desktop computers or better still Windows 8 laptops? If evolution in technology is needed then investment should be made in schools, colleges and Universities; that!! will yield sustainable return on investment; I see no return on investment via MPs.  According to SHEILA NATURINDA; a reporter of Dailynation, The Ugandan parliament is to spend about a billion shillings on iPad tablet computers for MPs.

Cameroon News: French children kidnapped in Cameroon


A video appearing to show seven French citizens, including four children, kidnapped in Cameroon last week has been posted on YouTube. While security and safety in Cameroon has always been a major, this scenario raises further concern  and puts to question the safety of foreign nationals and aid workers. France's foreign ministry said it was still trying to verify the authenticity of the video.

In a press statement signed by presidential media adviser Mr Reuben Abati, President Jonathan disclosed during the meeting that Nigeria is committed to resolving the crisis in Guinea Bissau under the aegis of the Economic Community of West African States and the United Nations.

According to Sahara Reporters, a United States grand jury has charged Nigerian-born lawyer and Deeper Life Bible Church pastor, Ifeanyichukwu Eric Abakporo and his American co-conspirator, Latanya Pierce, with a variety of wire and bank fraud offences.
