As most often, ESIA is an advocate of unity when possible and necessary and as such, this beautiful video symbolises just that.
For quiet sometime ESIA has been taking note of the beautiful Maybelle Boma who is a Gospel singer from the North West of Cameroon now resident in the United state to be precise, Washington DC.
Adding to being one of the powerful voices in the Cameroon Gospel music, the beautiful Maybelle Boma was also among the driving forces behind the birth of Cameroon First ever Entertainment Award which took place couple of months ago in the US.
As obvious this video features another remarkable talent; the beautiful Inorie Fotso from the west of Cameroon (the bamileke region). These two are the amazing recording voices and powerful duo in the Cameroon Gospel music.
Not only is this video 'THANK YOU LORD', that of praises to God as The Ultimate One, it also shows unity between the French and English speaking side of Cameroon being push forward. As we all know, colonialism has come and gone, but its impact in postcolonial multilingual contexts continues to shape and mould people’s ideologies, identity, culture, perceptions and attitudes. But the symbol of this video breaks through all and shines one thing only; UNITY.
The most admiration of Maybelle's videos and lyrics, is the fact that, it shows the exploring of the potentials of multilingualism for the well being of unity instead of the usual difference in postcolonial multilingual settings, which has often embark on tendencies to politically disharmonize unity in Cameroon.
May the good Lord continues to enrich Maybelle's lyrics so that through her powerful voice, she may empower further changes.
