Staff from Ethiopian Airlines, including CEO Tewolde GebreMariam (center), and Boeing take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Africa’s first Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Many are calling this a remarkable achievement for the state-owned airline, which has become Africa’s fastest growing carrier.
The airline received their first aircraft yesterday, making them the only carrier outside of Japan to fly the new aircraft. Its arrival at Addis Ababa’s Bole International Airport from Washington D.C.’s Dulles International Airport and received a jubilant welcome. The new aircraft is expect to fly en routes throughout Africa and Europe.
